We are looking for an experienced, senior-level finance professional to support an Australian structural steel fabrication and installation business.
The role will focus on financial reporting, cash flow visibility, project profitability, commercial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and project financial management while working closely with Australian management and the external accountant.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
Advanced hands-on experience with Xero in a finance or management accounting role
Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, ledger review, financial reporting
Previous hands-on finance experience with an Australian construction company
Understanding of progress claims, variations, retentions, job costing, and construction cash flow
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports
Provide clear commentary on financial performance, risks, and required actions
Maintain annual budgets and rolling forecasts
Analyse actual results against budgets and explain variances
Maintain accurate Xero coding, tracking categories, and reconciliations
Review payroll costs and month-end balances
Maintain a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast
Monitor overdue debtors, disputed claims, retentions, creditor commitments
Track progress claim submission dates, payment schedules, approved variations
Monitor project contract values, variations, progress claims, invoices, receipts, retentions
Work with project managers to forecast cost to complete and project margins
Maintain WIP reporting and support accurate project financial visibility
