About the role
We are looking for a full-time Millwork Estimator to support our high-end residential business specializing in custom doors, windows, stairs, and architectural millwork.
This role requires someone with hands-on industry knowledge who understands how custom doors, windows, and millwork are fabricated and priced. The ideal candidate will have experience working for a millwork contractor, door and window company, or similar specialized company where they were responsible for estimating, reviewing plans, and preparing material takeoffs.
This is a specialized estimating role. General construction estimating experience alone is not sufficient unless the candidate also has strong, relevant experience with custom doors, windows, and millwork.
WORK SCHEDULE:
7:00AM - 4:00PM, MONDAY TO FRIDAY, PACIFIC TIMEZONE
COMPENSATION:
- $1,400 USD / Month
- $500 Yearly Tech Allowance
- Annual Retention Bonus

Responsibilities:
- Review architectural plans, blueprints, elevations, details, and specifications to develop accurate estimates for custom millwork projects.
- Perform detailed material takeoffs directly from architectural plans.
- Review plan notes and construction details related to doors, windows, jambs, thresholds, hardware, and other millwork components.
- Understand and interpret common door and millwork details, including jamb configurations, kerf jambs, stop-added jambs, thresholds, and related specifications.
- Estimate materials, labor, fabrication, and production costs for made-to-order doors, windows, and millwork.
- Develop accurate pricing for different wood species, glass, hardware, specialty materials, and custom fabrication requirements.
- Prepare clear and professional estimates, quotes, and cost proposals for clients and project managers.
- Identify missing information, discrepancies, or unclear specifications in plans before completing an estimate.
- Collaborate with the design, production, and project teams to clarify scope and ensure estimates accurately reflect project requirements.
- Track project changes and revise estimates as plans, specifications, and selections evolve.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, quotes, takeoffs, and pricing information for future reference.
- Flag potential cost, material, fabrication, or scheduling risks based on project complexity and material availability.
- Become familiar with the company's specific products, fabrication methods, and estimating processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous estimating experience specifically related to millwork, custom doors, windows, or architectural woodworking.
- Strong understanding of custom doors and windows and how they are constructed, specified, and priced.
- Experience working for or with a millwork contractor, door and window company, custom woodworking company, or similar specialized business.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints, plans, elevations, details, and specifications.
- Proven ability to perform accurate material takeoffs from architectural drawings.
- Understanding of door and millwork construction details, including jambs, thresholds, stops, and other related components.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify specifications that may affect pricing or fabrication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- AutoCAD experience is preferred/required for reviewing and working with relevant drawings.
- Ability to work independently and accurately in a remote environment.
- Comfortable communicating with project managers, designers, production teams, and other stakeholders.
