Overview
Ataraxis is hiring a Medical Biller to own complex billing functions across claims, denials, and accounts receivable. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands real-world payer behavior, can resolve issues independently, and can mentor junior billers while owning outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Resolve complex claim denials, including authorization, medical necessity, coding, and payer policy issues
- Prepare and submit appeals and communicate directly with insurance payers
- Own assigned A/R from claim submission through final resolution
- Manage aging balances, follow-ups, and escalations
- Verify and interpret insurance benefits and reconcile adjudication discrepancies
- Support provider credentialing, re-credentialing, and payer maintenance
- Identify underpayments and reimbursement issues
- Train and mentor junior billers and support quality control efforts
Qualifications
- 4+ years of hands-on medical billing experience with full A/R ownership
- Proven success resolving complex denials and payer disputes
- Strong understanding of insurance benefits and EOBs
- Comfortable communicating with insurance representatives
- Organized, detail-oriented, and documentation-focused
Preferred Experience
- Experience with BCBS, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Medicare, and Medicaid plans
- Behavioral health or outpatient billing experience
- Experience supporting multi-provider practices
- Familiarity with payer portals and clearinghouses
