About the role
We are seeking an experienced Loan Setup Specialist to support a U.S.-based non-delegated mortgage lender.
The ideal candidate has recent, hands-on experience with loan setup in a mortgage lending environment and is highly proficient in Encompass. This is a strict "plug-and-play" remote position for an independent professional who can step into the role with minimal guidance, as no formal training will be provided.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review newly received loan files for completeness, accuracy, and required information.
Set up and enter loan data accurately into Encompass, including loan terms, program details, and property information.
Validate borrower, property, employment, income, asset, and transaction information across supporting documentation.
Run and review AUS findings (such as DU or LP/Loan Product Advisor) as applicable to the workflow.
Properly upload, index, and organize required documents in Encompass.
Identify missing or inconsistent information and coordinate promptly with loan officers, processors, and internal teams for resolution.
Verify that required disclosures and setup documents are properly reflected in the system.
Maintain accurate loan status, milestone information, and audit trails while meeting established turnaround times and quality expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Minimum of 1 year of recent, hands-on Loan Setup experience supporting U.S. residential mortgage loans.
Strong hands-on proficiency using Encompass
Solid understanding of the mortgage loan lifecycle, setup process, and document review.
Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple loan files and meeting turnaround requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
Experience supporting non-delegated, wholesale, correspondent lenders, or mortgage broker operations.
Background in centralized loan setup or processing teams.
Familiarity with AUS (DU/LP).
