About the role
We are seeking an experienced and CERTIFIED Medical Biller / Medical Coder to support Home Health and Hospice operations. 100% remote. Independent Contractor.
Key Responsibilities: Review clinical documentation and assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems. Prepare, submit, and manage Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance claims. Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid, rejected, or denied claims. Investigate denials, prepare appeals, and resolve billing discrepancies. Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits. Post payments and reconcile billing records. Maintain compliance with HIPAA, CMS regulations, and payer-specific requirements.
Required Qualifications: Current certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is required. Minimum 2-3 years of recent experience in U.S. Home Health and/or Hospice medical billing and coding. Strong knowledge of Home Health PPS, Hospice billing requirements, Medicare regulations, and CMS guidelines. Familiarity with EMR/EHR and medical billing software used in Home Health or Hospice settings.
